Laura Jane Turner (they/she) is a multi-award-winning Australian actor, director, and creative producer dedicated to elevating gender diverse and queer narratives in the arts. 
A First Class Honours graduate from the Victorian College of the Arts (Acting) and SAE Institute (Filmmaking), Laura has been a versatile storyteller for nearly fifteen years across screen and stage.
Their highly acclaimed, Academy Award qualifying short film, Curve - featuring Laura's award nominated, solo performance - premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, screened at over 60 festivals worldwide, won 17 awards—including Best Short Film at the Sitges Film Festival—and has amassed over 20 million views online. Recent credits include Slut by Patricia Cornelius & directed by Rachel Baring, Mother Land written & directed by Carly Brand (VCA) and The Long F*cking Road written & directed by Alicia Sutcliffe (2023 AACTA Pitch Finalist).
Laura's work behind the camera further champions stories led by - and about - gender diverse and queer individuals. Their body of work includes Netflix series Videoland created by Jess Smith,  the feminist short The Testosterone Club, adapted from Cate Kennedy's short story, and the sapphic, bushranger drama, Ballad, which premiered at the Geelong Pride Film Festival. Laura is currently working as Director's Assistant and Intimacy Coach on a new queer, coming-of-age short from Yvette Turnbull.
Laura’s commitment to inclusive and equitable creative environments reflects their belief in the transformative power of storytelling. They have received numerous accolades, including the 2022 Equity Foundation’s Scholarship to attend Atlantic Acting School.
